I am a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor and I offer my services to communities near my neighbourhood, including Surrey, Cloverdale, Langley, South Surrey and White Rock. My services are somatic based and body-centric, utilizing the arts and the work of Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing and Laury Rappaport’s Focusing Oriented Art Therapy – as an alternative to therapy predominantly focused on talking or verbal expression. I work with children and women who are interested in doing the rewarding work of uncovering their deepest sense of resilience and wonder. The work, which includes Expressive Arts Therapy, is gentle but powerful and effective – it works in conjunction with other modalities to serve clients who are invested in making a difference in their lives through striving for personal growth and relinquishing old patterns of behaviour that no longer serve you – and thereby sharing this gift of inner transformation with their contributions to their communities and families.
As children, we have been taught to hide our emotions and suppress them. Rarely do we find a parent who offers us the gift of learning to experience our feelings and to allow them to move through us with grace and presence. Emotions are neither good nor bad – they are a means of valuable communication that serves to reward us with information about ourselves – who we are, how we feel (or our affect), our impulses and our deepest desires or wishes. If we are not allowing our emotions, we are missing out on a valuable piece of the puzzle in regards to our personal growth. Ultimately, the goal of healing is to achieve release from old habits and patterns that hold us back.
I work with you to see how the emotions that lie beneath your subconscious surface have a sacred contribution to offer you. We revel in the opportunity to create space for your feelings to express themselves, to connect with the body to see what secrets it holds and how we can utilize this information to develop greater resilience within ourselves.
I also offer group workshops in Expressive Arts Therapy online, or in person. Please sign up for my newsletter to find out about the latest news and workshops. If you should be interested in attending Expressive Arts workshops in your community, please contact me via phone at (778) 389-9234 to find out more. If you wish to host an Expressive Arts Therapy workshop in your home (for a small group), I am happy to offer a free session for the host.
