Anxiety starts early in life. Children may present as not liking to try new things, disliking change or taking risks, seeing the negative in any situation, having physical complaints or avoiding situations/objects that they fear. We don’t just want to get rid of the anxiety – we want to work with it and help children transition from one milestone to another, as this is just part of life. I help children get to know their anxiety and how it affects the body, mind and their behaviour through Expressive Arts Play Therapy and other modaliites such as Focusing Oriented Art Therapy and Biofeedback. Through fantasy, children learn to cope with their fears and release anxiety or depression. Therapy helps children feel heard, understood and accepted.
